Wahaca-ca-ca

Well the flowers did indeed lead to fruits and one of our Wahaca chilli plants is now the bearer of one huge serrano chilli and a further four smaller ones that are growing bigger and bigger by the day. I'm so chuffed that all my worries about the coldness of the flat back in February and the fact that they hadn't been under heaters hasn't stopped them from being able to produce fruits.

Only two of the six plants that we've got left (I gave two of them away to other homes) are currently out on the windowsill but both of those are reaping the rewards of the gorgeous long sunny days that we've been having over the past couple of weeks. Three of them are still in the tiny little pots that we transplanted them into from the seed trays and they really need some more root space but it's finding the space in the flat to put them that's the problem!

  1. Wow!
Things have really moved along since I last checked your blog. Those pepper plants look great and really put my tiddlers to shame. I've only been able to give them morning sun so far though so they will probably be much happier once I can get them into full sun on the plot.

It's great to see everything getting so big!

    Congratulations on the chilli.

  2. Thanks for the congratulations! Yeah, I'm really pleased to see the chillies coming through as was so skeptical about them but they seem to be doing great. Fingers crossed yours will start blossoming once they're out in a sunny spot full time.

  3. Hi Amy, thank you for your comment. It's true I haven't blogged for sooooo long and so it was lovely when I just logged on by chance and found your comment! Life has just gone really hectic here and I keep wanting to blog but there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment. THe garden and allotment have even been slightly negleted but seem to be doing quite well considering they aren't get all the love and attention they usually get. So you've got chillies...how fantastic, I'm so jealous, but it's inspired me to maybe try again next year, they look great. Also I'm impressed with your oregano - that's a herb I don't seem to have much luck with but yours looks great. It was so nice to hear from you, I will try to update my blog soon. All is well here-just lots of commitments getting in the way!

  4. Hi Nina, Hope that things quieten down a bit again and you find some more time to keep up the blogging. Yes, you really should try chillies again as I really didn't find them tricky at all. I think that the key might be that our windowsills are really, really sunny. South-facing and in full sunlight all afternoon so I guess that may be why both the chillies and oregano are thriving out there. We are having less luck with salads (rocket and spinach) as the poor little things keep on frying out there in the full sun.
